Unplanned, forced interruptions can disrupt our lives both professionally and personally without warning.
I experienced this firsthand as I fell victim to bank fraud – right at the moment we had to call 911 for a medical emergency involving my father.
Following the logical sequence of our emails, today we were set to focus on the third step below: Confirming Pathways.
In step one of working with customers, we delve into causation by gathering coherent information related to one or more of these three potential causes:
- Disparity between 2 things (knowledge/performance/income/social status)
- Period of Absence or Inactivity
(breaks in life – motherhood, gap year, being fired) - Discontinuity or Absence in a Sequence
(Stop learning, restricted access from advancements)
To #PracticeWhatIPreach, I had to:
- Gather coherent information,
- Affirm its accuracy, and
- Confirm the possible pathways in the fraudulent process.
Yes, this unexpected, random interruption caused an immediate GAP that impacted my workflow, schedule, mental health, and even my sleep.
The hardest question I faced was: What pathway should I take? How far should I push for my rights without sacrificing myself or my company?
In times like these, we rely on professionals. I don’t have expertise in managing bank fraud, so I turned to experts who helped me define the most coherent pathway for myself, my team, and our overall well-being.
As I’ve said countless times over the past 35+ years: “Simple does not mean easy.” Yet, we all know it’s the simple steps that fill the GAPS.
None of this is easy. I’m still shaky and scared, but life goes on…
